Us
SmartCommute@rtp is Research Triangle Park's transportation
management association (TMA) created by the RTP
Owners & Tenants Association. The initiative was established
in 1999 in coordination with the NC Department of Transportation
and today represents the efforts of 25 member employers that represent the
majority of RTP's 40,000 employees.
Mission Statement
The purpose of SmartCommute@rtp is to coordinate the transportation
demand management (TDM) efforts of organizations in Research
Triangle Park to address common transportation concerns,
reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.
Objectives:
- To
promote alternate commuting practices to ease travel demand
on existing roadways, facilities, and workforces
- To
create and support alternative, environmentally friendly
commuting practices within RTP
- To
leverage best practices among RTP organizations to create
effective programs for all
- To
partner with NCDOT, local transit authorities, & area
municipalities for development of TDM funding, policies
and services
