TTA's Transit Design Game
Be a part of TTA's Transit Design Process! From February 16 - 28, 2007, TTA will be asking the local community for input on prioritizing future improvements to transit vehicles, bus stops, and other amenities online at www.RideTTA.org/Priorities.
TTA employees will also pass out paper surveys on buses, and visit public locations such as Fayetteville St. in Raleigh, American Tobacco Campus in Durham, the Cary Train Station and Franklin St. in Chapel Hill during the week of February 19 - 23, 2007.
Using a list of improvements gathered from public input the agency has sought during the last 6 months, the online survey will focus on prioritizing these amenities within budgetary restraints. Survey respondents will be asked to "spend" a budget based on real world costs on a combination of bus shelters, bike racks, lighting, signage, alternative fuels, and other options without going over budget. The results of this survey will be used to make future prioritizations at TTA.
2006
Telework Lunch & Learn
The
2006 Telework Lunch & Learns are
sponsored by the Triangle Transit Authority, SmartCommute@rtp,
and the Downtown Raleigh Transportation Cooperative
Association.
Telework means working from anywhere - home, a telecenter,
or a café in Denver - during traditional or non-traditional
hours. Learn about how to begin a telework program or
improve upon an informal telework program. In addition
to being a proven strategy to increase worker productivity,
satisfaction and morale, telework programs help organizations
recruit and retain qualified employees, including those
with disabilities that prevent them from commuting,
and can be an important part of an organizations contingency
plan.
All interested human resource professionals,
managers, IT professionals, and transportation coordinators
should attend one of the events:
Wed,
July 19, 2006 at 11:30 am, RTI in RTP
or
Thurs, July 20, 2006 at 11:30 am, Downtown
Raleigh's Urban Design Center on Fayetteville St.
Lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Kathleen
Herr at the TTA by July 17, 2006 at 919-485-7463
or kherr@ridetta.org, and be sure to indicate which
event you plan to attend. Both dates are limited to
40 participants, so sign up today!
July 2007 is Energy Independence Month at TTA
During July,
TTA will be giving out buttons that say, "Be Energy
Independent! RIDE TRANSIT" - these buttons will
be available on boards hanging at the front of buses
during July. Each button will come with a piece of paper
explaining the campaign. Throughout the month, TTA “Secret
Agents” will be riding TTA buses, shuttles, and
paratransit vehicles looking for customers wearing these
“Be Energy Independent” buttons. Based on
a pre-assigned random number, the Secret Agents will
award a prize to a button-wearing customer. Thanks to
everyone for your help in making July a successful Energy
Independence Month!
Prizes include:
• “Kick Gas” t-shirt
• GoTriangle travel mug
• GoTriangle commuter bag
• GoTriangle carabiner radios
• $25 gift card
National
Dump the Pump Day - Thursday, June 8, 2006!
National Dump the Pump Day is dedicated to raising awareness
that public transit is one of the quickest ways to beat
high gas prices. On June 8, transit agencies from coast
to coast will join together nationwide to ask the public
to park their cars and ride transit instead. TTA will
hold a mini-celebration at the RTP bus transfer center
in the afternoon to thank their riders. Riders will
be awarded "I Dumped the Pump for Transit"
buttons and other giveaways.
