Bike / Walk

Biking and walking are becoming more popular commute alternatives in the Triangle region due to bikes on buses programs, better roadway facilities and enhanced sidewalks for pedestrians.  Biking and walking are the most inexpensive and, for many, the most efficient forms of transportation. GoTriangle.org offers several resources for cyclists, including posted routes into RTP.

Get involved!  Join the RTP Bike/Ped listserv (Durham has one, too).  The Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) and the Capital Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Stakeholders Group (BPSG) have monthly meetings that are open to the public.

RTP has roughly 15 miles of pedestrian and jogging trails along its major thoroughfares and a mountain bike trail that opened in the summer of 2009 in the southern portion of the Park.
