Vanpool

Vanpools consist of seven or more commuters who live and work near each other and who share approximately the same work hours.  Triangle Transit provides the van, pays for gas and insurance and arranges, oversees and pays for all maintenance.  Riders pay a low monthly fare based on the average daily round-trip mileage.  Vanpools are for commutes that are greater than 20 miles round-trip.  One leg of the vanpool's trip must begin or end in Durham, Orange or Wake county.

As of July 2009, 25 vanpools make the trip into RTP every weekday.  New vanpool riders of SmartCommute@rtp member employers can ride for free for three months. Visit Triangle Transit for a list of current vanpools, information about joining and forming vanpools, and much more.
