Carpool

Carpooling to work is an easy and flexible way to share the ride.  Carpooling can save you time and money and you can carpool once a week or every day.  Find a carpool partner using the region’s free rideshare matching service. Several SmartCommute@rtp member employers also have internal ridematching services.

Vanpool

Vanpools consist of seven or more commuters who live and work near each other and who share approximately the same work hours.  Riders pay a low monthly fare based on the average daily round-trip mileage.  New vanpool riders of SmartCommute@rtp member employers can ride for free for three months.

Ride the Bus

Riding the bus is safe, reliable and stress free.  Triangle Transit provides service to The Research Triangle Park.  You can plan your trip online or call (919) 485-RIDE for assistance.  New bus riders that work for SmartCommute@rtp member employers can receive a free Triangle Transit 10-ride pass (apply here).

Bike / Walk

Save money on your commute, help the environment and improve your health!  Several resources are available for cyclists (there is also a regional bikes on buses program). You can also join the RTP Bike/Ped listserv.

 

Telework

Teleworking is one of the most desirable and flexible alternative commute options for employees who can do their jobs remotely at least part of the time (with employer approval).
