The following programs and services are available to all SmartCommute@rtp members and their employees.
Commuter Services
Emergency Ride Home
This program provides an option for employees that take the bus, carpool, vanpool, bike, or walk to receive a free emergency ride home (or other related destination) in the event of an emergency or unscheduled overtime. This helps to ease concerns of employees that may be hesitant to use an alternative mode of transportation because of something that may arise infrequently.
Ride Matching
Employees have online access to a statewide ride-matching program. When employees register, they’ll receive a free list of matches – people who live and work near them with similar work hours and also interested in sharing a ride to work.
Vanpool Subsidy
New vanpool riders that work for SmartCommute@rtp employers are eligible to receive a reimbursement for any out of pocket expenses upon completion of their first three months of ridership.
Transit Subsidy
SmartCommute@rtp offers a free Triangle Transit ten-ride pass for new riders that work full time for any SmartCommute@rtp employer.
Employer Services
Employee Transportation Coordinator Training Opportunities through GoTriangle
Members may take advantage of training for company personnel on different types of commuter options and benefits, and how to provide commuter assistance at the work site.
Program and Transportation Materials
Members have access to GoTriangle and other transportation materials, including promotional posters, flyers, brochures, new employee packets, and transit schedules. Additionally, members receive relevant updates and information via email on special events, transit schedule changes, and other pertinent transportation information to assist in promoting transportation options at their work sites.
Information Displays
SmartCommute@rtp provides brochure holders to members, along with assistance in designing and maintaining transportation information displays.
Best Workplaces for Commuters
A business/government partnership, the Best Workplaces for Commuters program is dramatically improving the way people get to and from work. Sponsored by the EPA and DOT, SmartCommute@rtp assists its members in becoming one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters. As a Best Workplaces for Commuters Employer, you will receive technical assistance, public recognition and promotion, training, Web-based tools, and forums for information exchange.
Special Event Support
SmartCommute@rtp will set up and staff booths and other displays for special onsite events hosted by member employers, such as Earth Day events, Sustainability Fairs, and Benefit Fairs.
Commuter Contests
Each year, SmartCommute@rtp sponsors special events like the SmartCommute Challenge to encourage employees to try out new ways to commute into work and will provide staffing and information for related onsite events. Additionally, SmartCommute@rtp members are eligible for other programs such as Targeted Marketing programs and potential employee incentive programs.
