Employee Commuter Survey

The Durham Commute Trip Reduction Program requires Durham County businesses that employ more than 100 people to participate in an annual Employee Commuting Survey. The survey is developed and administered by Triangle Transit. A certain percentage (based on employer size) of a company's workers must take the on-line or paper survey.  Completed surveys provide information about commuting patterns and the results are used by Triangle Transit in their regional service planning.

The Research Triangle Park is located in two counties – Durham and Wake.  RTP Durham employers with fewer than 100 employees (Monsanto, Research Triangle Foundation) and RTP Wake employers (Cisco and NetApp) voluntarily participate in the survey.  Survey participation is extremely helpful in understanding and improving commutes into RTP. Additionally, survey data can be useful to employers.  Feedback from employees and information about employee commutes can help an employer make informed decisions about offering or increasing subsidies, create marketing plans, evaluate the progress being made in reducing the vehicle miles traveled by their employees, and set goals for the future.
