SmartCommute@rtp is The Research Triangle Park's transportation management association (TMA) that is a committee of the RTP Owners & Tenants Association. The purpose of SmartCommute@rtp is to coordinate the transportation demand management (TDM) efforts of organizations in RTP to address common transportation concerns, reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.
SmartCommute@rtp membership is free and voluntary and any company located within the boundaries of RTP (owners or tenants) is eligible for membership. For more information, or to receive a copy of the official membership agreement, please contact Alison Fiori.
SmartCommute@rtp members agree to:
- Designate a SmartCommute@rtp representative to attend quarterly meetings and be the point of contact for their company
- Promote the availability of alternative commute options and benefits to employees
(brochures provided by SmartCommute@rtp)
- Participate in the annual SmartCommute Challenge campaign
- Remain in good standing with trip reduction requirements (for Durham County employers with over 100 employees)
What will SmartCommute@rtp do for you?
- Advocate for improved transportation services for RTP employers and employees
- Provide marketing materials and tools for offering commuter choices and benefits to employees
- Provide air quality signage for members to use at campus entrances during the air quality reporting season
- Provide subsidies for new bus and vanpool riders of SmartCommute@rtp member employers
- Provide free Emergency Ride Home program, online ridematching services and online individualized transit trip planning (www.GoTriangle.org)
- Coordinate events like the SmartCommute Challenge and Bike To Work Week that enhance the value of participation in SmartCommute@rtp
- Maintain SmartCommute.org which was created especially for RTP commuters and employers and moderate an RTP Bike/Ped listserv
- Hold quarterly meetings and networking opportunities for members
